செல்வராஜின் குழந்தைகளைப் போல் "அம்மா.. why is she so old?" "Then who will look after me?"

Ramya,
The first time i am reading your post/blog. Very touching and nice. Paati's are epitome of love and tradition. My mothers' mother used to be like her. When i first got my earnings I got a saree for her
(9 yards) and gave to her and got her blessings, but she never wore that. She was bed ridden from stroke a few days after i gave her the saree and never came around during the 3 years she lived after that. it still hurts me. My father's mother is still alive, but then she is as distant to me as a stranger is. has never loved anybody in her life except herself. Even now with 87 years and two metal screws in her hip (the operation was done a few months back), she is going strong. has given mental torture to my mother all along even when she was carrying. none of her daughters come and visit her. if not for my mother i don't know where she will be. but even now she back bites behind my mom. i have never been so lucky like you.

Thanks for sharing.. To an extent, I can understand how you feel.. my mother had similar experiences but she firmly believed that blessings of elders keep her children happy. So, she found a way to look beyond her pain. My patti finally appreciated her worth.

I hope you find a way to reach out to your patti and make peace with her.

My deepest condolences Ramya. I am speechless. I too lost my grandmother 4 years ago. She was 96 then. She looked almost like your grandma - except that her hair was completely white!
When I got selected in my Campus interview (in a private software concern) and told this news to her, her first innocent question was "Pension kuduppala?"!!!
She is the most patient person I have ever seen in my life!
Thanks to your blog, I could jog all my memories of my patti!
